Stop. Pause. Remind.

Well, if my goal is to update this blog every 2 years, I'm off to a smashing start.  Over the next few weeks I will attempt to pause & remind over the course of what's occurred in the past year in our family.  To recap what's happened in our lives since my graduation from Southern Seminary in May 2010- Present it would read something like:

Lauren starts new job at Highview's Indiana Campus as children's director for about 4 months
Remodel our downstairs bathroom
Lauren starts new job at Highview's Valley Station Campus as children's director for a year & 1/2
Sean becomes the Grounds Director for Highview
Take a fantastic vacation to Washington DC
Lauren starts new job at Highview's East Campus as preschool director until this past July
Waiting on the arrival of Baby Katie on November 2nd

Graduation from Southern
May 2010
That's alot of business packed into 2 years!  Here are some pictures to continue that recap.

Let's Sum Up the Past 8 Months...

When Sean & I said "I Do" on January 10, I pictured life finally slowing down from the hectic juggle of wedding planning, moving into a new apartment, and cramming in a semester of Seminary classes. My ideal scenario has been anything but calm and quiet here in the Foster household. This past May we started house hunting and closed on the perfect house for us in July. Sean's Dad lovingly commented that the house needed "a big hug," and since our closing Sean has been embracing the house by ripping out carpet, demolishing a bathroom, and painting from floor to ceiling (along with the help of our sweet family!).

My life has also been incredibly busy with the monumental decision to commit "Seminary Suicide" and finish up my Masters by May. This past summer I took on 5 classes...*Yes, it can be done*. Between closing on the house, the Southern Baptist Convention, and my classes, I feel as if I merely blinked and the summer was over. I had a quick weekend of summer vacation before the Fall semester started up and I once again attacked a full load of classes. I'm very thankful to have a supportive husband who lets me stay up late pouring over my books and patiently listens to my enthusiastic ramblings about theology and Christian Education…

Another big change in our lives is my Dad's pursuit of the ministry. Last January, Sean and I were in Atlanta for my grandmother's funeral when my Dad announced to us that he had taken early retirement from his job and felt the Lord calling him into ministry. A few months later my parents decided that Louisville would be their new home and Dad moved into an apartment at Southern this past August. Mom and Homer (the beloved cat) are staying in Jacksonville to sell the house and will then move up here as well. Dad and I have a class together which has been a very odd experience. It's worked out well, expect for our constant debate on where to sit in class (I embrace the back of the class, while Dad likes to be on the very front row).

Hopefully this blog will serve as a glimpse for our family and friends to observe all that God is doing in our lives and keep you updated on the Foster Family!
